Copyright and license policy

EDP Open collects different types of papers originating from different journals. The copyright of each paper is clearly indicated in the full-text articles and on the abstracts.

We can encounter 3 possibilities:

  • the papers are published in a Gold Open Access journal and the authors retain copyright under the use of a Creative Commons License (CC-BY) which enables authors/editors to retain the copyright of their work. Publications can be reused and redistributed as long as the original author is correctly attributed.
  • the papers are published in a Gold Open Access journal but the owner, generally an institution, prefer or is in the obligation to retain the copyright instead of the authors. In this case, we can find either a traditional copyright (@ the institution) or a CC-license with more or less rights for re-utilization.
  • The papers are published in a traditional subscription journal and are made free by some reasons : choice of the publisher, Open Access Option paid by the authors or end of the embargo time.
